Labor Market

One of WifOR‘s core field of study is the department for Labor Economic Research. It is primarily concerned with both the diverse challenges and numerous chances for all players in the labor market. Through our services within the research fields of Macroeconomics Labor Market Analyses, Analyses of Personnel Economics and the Economics of Location, Socio-Political Analyses, as well as Sports Economic Analyses, we generate relevant information for all recipients. This information, in turn, leads to considerable informational advantages for the recipients. Furthermore, through our work in these research fields, we answer questions which are relevant in an economic and societal context.

Macroeconomic Labor Market Analysis

The ongoing demographic change and the increasing digitalization will make the society as a whole, as well as representatives of the economic and political life, face a formidable challenge. These challenges will sustainably impact the labor market. With our differentiated Labor Market Analysis, we lay the foundation for profound analyses of the current as well as the future situation of skilled workers in different industries, occupations, qualifications, and regions. WifOR can build upon our longstanding experience in this field and is therefore we are able to provide convincing analyses of the labor market situation for skilled workers and different industries up to 2030 and beyond. Building on that, it is possible to employ different scenarios (e.g. migration, women’s employment, retirement, or digitalization), and to evaluate their effects on the supply and demand for labor. With WifOR’s empiric results, we are able to further state the implications and provide guidance for economic and political representatives, as well as society as a whole.

Both demographic change and growing digitalization increase the pressure for companies to act accordingly. Those companies are also likely to face the difficulty of finding and hiring qualified workers. It is crucial to act as early as possible in order to tackle these issues and, in turn, benefit from a possible strategic advantage. WifOR helps and supports companies with the economic analyses of location and personnel. The underlying data from internal plans concerning the strategic personnel requirements are compared and synchronized with macroeconomic labor market data and evolutions. Additionally, companies can benchmark and amend their internal strategic plans with external developments. Moreover, our macroeconomic location analysis provides a comprehensive informational portfolio which, among others, contains labor market specific, economic, and infrastructural location factors. This enables companies to assess the available potential and demand of skilled workers in the respective region and industry. In turn, the chances of a purposeful acquisition of skilled workers can be increased significantly. WifOR can help its partners by drawing on experience (see also: Macroeconomic Labor Market Analysis) and its preceding statistical studies to gain a strategic advantage.
